Product information

Straight Eight Cucumber
[Heirloom]
$2.39

The standard for slicing cucumbers since 1935. Bears a prolific crop of cucumbers with dark green skin and white flesh; stays crisp and resists disease. They have a mildly sweet flavor and are about eight inches long at maturity.

Slicing cucumbers are perfect for making sweet bread and butter pickles or dill pickles. Pickles aren't the only purpose for cucumbers. They're great when eaten fresh or in salads.

Packet Approximately 100 seeds.

A popular heirloom type of slicing cucumbers.

days To Maturity: (55-65 days) Open Pollinated.

Planting: Cucumbers should be planted in late spring (this allows time for the ground to warm up, which is vital to cucumbers) , and can either be seeded directly in the ground or started indoors. If you choose to start them indoors, plant them in pots filled with potting soil and allow yourself at least five weeks before you want to plant them. If you choose to plant them directly in the ground, they can be planted in rows at about 24 inches between each seed or planted in hills ( four to six seeds per plateau shaped hill, with four to five feet between each hill). It will be approximately 65 days until they reach maturity.
